Making Complain To 100 (Fed Up)

on Saturday, December 20, 2008

One of my relative's house phone had not been functioning at all for almost one month. The weird thing is, there is no problem with the internet connection but the phone cannot be called in or out.

As such, my relative had asked me to help to complain to Telekom again. So, yesterday I made a complain call to 100 and give them the refence number (as I have complained it before but seems the problem had not been solved!). The person that picked up my call told me that the technician had checked and found there is no problem with the external line and said it must be an internal line problem. As such, she suggested that we find a contractor to fix it. So, she provided a telephone number (which is the Kuching Telekom office) and ask me to mention the problem to them and they will get a contractor to solve the problem.

So, I gave the number to my relative and asked him to call the number. Well, guess what happen?

My relative called the number and they do provide him the Telekom contractor. However, when he call the contractor, the contractor asked him to complain the problem to 100 (again!???) before they can do anything..

My relative called me again and ask me to explain the problem to Kuching Telekom office (as he cant speak well in English or BM). So, I called the Kuching Telekom number and the guy that picked up the phone mention that I must complain to 100 as they cannot do anything there!

I was so angry with the whole situation and I tried to argue with that guy but at last I gave up as I knew arguing with him wont solve anything...

At last, I called back the 100 line and explain the whole situation again and I do sound a bit angry as I was getting really pissed off with the situation....

Conclusion: I will suggest to my relative to just terminate the telephone line if the the problem still not solve. No point maintaining a fixed line phone where you cannot call in or out. And I think those customer service of GLC sometimes really really terrible!....

Hidden Charges

on Thursday, December 4, 2008

I was checking my Maybank account yesterday through Maybank2u and I found out that they are charging RM1 for my debit advice.

I have no idea since when they start to charge RM1 and the insurance company (which is related to Maybank Group) had not informed me that the bank will charge that RM1 for every debit advice!..Since I am paying the insurance every month, that means the bank will be charging RM12 every year!.....

Hmmm.....maybe I should just stopped the debit advice.......

Legend of Condor Heroes

on Saturday, November 29, 2008

Legend of Condor Heroes is a story written by one of the famous writer Jin Yong (金庸). It is one of the favourite story that I like to read. It is the first novel of Condor trilogy (the second one is The Return of Condor Heroes and the third is The Heavenly Sword and The Dragon Saber).

In fact, I like to read all those classic kung fu story especially those written by Jin Yong and Gu Long (古龍). I used to stay up for whole night just to finish the books.

Legend of Condor Heroes has been remake into drama for many times and I have almost watched all of those. However, I still prefer the one that's shown in the 1980s which is produced by Hong Kong Tv Station, TVB.

The one that is starred by Li Peng (李鵬) is also quite good. Recently there is a new one starred by Hu Ge(胡歌)....a 2008 version...and

I am downloading it from the internet...can't wait to watch.... *smile*

Anyone that want to know more about the story of Legend of Condor Heroes, you can go here.

on Friday, October 10, 2008

Peace Between Religion

on Thursday, September 25, 2008

In The Star today, there is a news on a family with different religion that live peacefully under one roof.

The news is about a mother who is Buddhist, live with her son who has converted to Muslim. During the fasting month, tough she does not fast together with the son, she still enjoying the time together with her son and his family during the break fasting (buka puasa).

You can read the complete news here

This shows that actually people with different religion actually can live peacefully together. Although different religion have different teaching, but I think all religions teach their followers to embrace peace and love.

Just like Tzu Chi , we have volunteers that come from different background, ethnic and religion and yet we have the same mission, that is to help those people who are in need.

That's my thought for today.. Peace!... *smile*...

Photo@Riam Temple

on Wednesday, September 17, 2008

Went to the Riam Temple last Sunday to pay respect to my deceased maternal grandfather. While at the temple, I took some random shot with my digital camera around it.

For those who ever read the story on "Journey To The West", I am sure you will know those four main characters in the story. Yup, the two in the first photo is Sha Wujing and Zhu Bajie, and the two figure on the second photo is the Buddhist monk, Xuanzang and Monkey King, Sun Wukong.
This is the figure of Ksitigarbha. He is known for his vow not to achieve Buddhahood until the hells are emptied. He is regarded as the bodhisattva of hell beings.
And this above is the figure of  Tu Di Gong. Tu Di Gong is famous deity that is worshipped by many Chinese folk religion worshippers and Taoist.

Traffic jam everywhere

on Thursday, September 4, 2008

The traffic jam condition in Miri start to get worse when the fasting month start especially after 5pm during working day.

If you are driving from town to Pujut area, first you will get a little bit jam in front of the mosque (at the town area). Next, you will get stuck from the flyover to the roundabout near GK supermaket, and you will find the double-lane road below the flyover had became a single-lane road because all those people that went to visit the fasting month stalls at Saberkas had parked their cars along the roadside.

Worse still, when you almost reach your house, you cannot turn inside because there is long queue of cars in front of you that block your way... :(  and that's what happen to me yesterday.........

on Thursday, August 7, 2008

Ghost Month

on Wednesday, August 6, 2008

This month is the seventh month in the lunar calendar, which is also known as The Ghost Month.

According to Chinese tradition, the Ghost Month is which ghosts and spirits, including those of the deceased ancestors, come out of the lower realm. There will be a lot activities such as preparing ritualistic food offerings, burning incense, and burning joss paper during the month.

However, from a Buddhist perspective, the seventh lunar month is month of joy. This is because the fifteenth day of the seventh month is often known as the Buddha's joyful day and the day of rejoice for monks.

The Buddhist origins of the festival can be traced back to a story that originally came from India, but later took on culturally Chinese overtones. In the Ullambana Sutra, there is a descriptive account of a Buddhist monk named Mahāmaudgalyāyana, originally a brahmin youth who later ordained, and later becoming one of the Buddha's chief disciples. Mahāmaudgalyāyana was also known for having clairvoyant powers, an uncommon trait amongst monks.
After he attained arhatship, he began to think deeply of his parents, and wondered what happened to them. He used his clairvoyance to see where they were reborn and found his father in the heavenly realms i.e the realm of the gods. However, his mother had been reborn in a lower realm, known as the Realm of Hungry Ghosts. His mother took on the form of a hungry ghost--- so called because it could not eat due to its highly thin & fragile throat in which no food could pass through, yet it was always hungry because it had a fat belly. His mother had been greedy with the money he left her. He had instructed her to kindly host any Buddhist monks that ever came her way, but instead she withheld her kindness and her money. It was for this reason she was reborn in the realm of hungry ghosts.
Mahāmaudgalyāyana eased his mother's suffering by receiving the instructions of feeding pretas from the Buddha. The Buddha instructed Mahāmaudgalyāyana to place pieces of food on a clean plate, reciting a mantra seven times, snap his fingers then tip the food on clean ground. By doing so, the preta's hunger was relieved and through these merits, his mother was reborn as a dog under the care of a noble family.
Mahāmaudgalyāyana also sought the Buddha's advice to help his mother gain a human birth. The Buddha established a day after the traditional summer retreat (the 15th day of the seventh month in the lunar calendar, usually mid-to-late August) on which Mahāmaudgalyāyana was to offer food and robes to 500 bhikkhus. Through the merits created, Mahāmaudgalyāyana's mother finally gained a human birth.

Forensic Heroes

on Friday, August 1, 2008

I have just finished watching Forensic Heroes 2 yesterday. It is a cantonese drama produced by the Hong Kong TVB.

Personally, i think the drama is good one to watch if you like stories on criminal case investigation. The technology and methods use on those investigation in the drama are so scientific. Through analysis and scientific investigation, they manage to catch the criminals.

There's one saying that I like in the drama is "People can lie but evidence will not lie". Yes, people can lie about whatever they had done but there is still evidence there that can prove.

I am looking forward for the next one, Forensic Heroes 3...*smile*...

p/s: If our beloved country here can have those great technology and people, wont the ex-DPM case been long solved?..

on Tuesday, July 29, 2008

on Monday, July 28, 2008

on Friday, July 25, 2008

Being Professional

on Monday, July 21, 2008

Being professional is to pay attention on everything you do.

Although you do not have the technical or paper qualification on what are you doing, but still you can become a professional when you pay every little attention on what are you trying to do.

I realize this when I am taking a task on the audio-visual control room yesterday. Even though I am not a professional in operating the audio-visual system, however, I manage to complete my task smoothly (though there some minor problem occur at the beginning).

So, try not to worry so much if you do not have all the proper paper qualification. You can still succeed if you are willing to learn and paying attention on what are you trying to achieve.

Let The Music Heal Your Soul

For all that loves music.......

Oh if someone writes a song
with a simple rhyme
Just a song where is feeling show
And if someone feels the same
about the simple song
Oh sometimes you can hear them sing
Music gives you happiness or sadness
But it also, it also heals your soul

[ Chorus: ]
Let the music heal your soul
Let the music take control
Let the music give you the
power to move any mountain

Oh if someone plays piano
with some simple chords
So melodic and endearing too
And oh if someone plays
guitar with the old piano
And maybe you can hear them sing

But it also heals your soul

[ Chorus ]

Let the music take control
Let the music heal you soul
Oh, oh yes

Clay Balls

An meaningful article for sharing..

A man was exploring caves by the seashore. In one of the caves he found a canvas bag with a bunch of hardened clay balls. It was like someone had rolled clay balls and left them out in the sun to bake.

They didn't look like much, but they intrigued the man, so he took the bag out of the cave with him. As he strolled along the beach, he would throw the clay balls one at a time out into the ocean as far as he could.

He thought little about it, until he dropped one of the clay balls and it cracked open on a rock. Inside was a beautiful, precious stone!

Excited, the man started breaking open the remaining clay balls. Each contained a similar treasure. He found thousands of dollars worth of jewels in the 20 or so clay balls he had left. Then it struck him.

He had been on the beach a long time. He had thrown maybe 50 or 60 of the clay balls with their hidden treasure into the ocean waves. Instead of thousands of dollars in treasure, he could have taken home tens of thousands, but he had just thrown it away!

It's like that with people. We look at someone, maybe even ourselves, and we see the external clay vessel It doesn't look like much from the outside. It isn't always beautiful or sparkling, so we discount it.

We see that person as less important than someone more beautiful or stylish or well known or wealthy But we have not taken the time to find the treasure hidden inside that person.

There is a treasure in each one of us. If we take the time to get to know that person, then the clay begins to peel away and the brilliant gem begins to shine forth.

May we not come to the end of our lives and find out that we have thrown away a fortune in friendships because the gems were hidden in bits of clay.

Conspiracy or Coincidence?

on Wednesday, July 2, 2008

The Malaysia politic is full of drama since the last general election.

From the show in the parliament house when the parliament opened for the new session until the recent case of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Well, the weird thing is Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is charged for sodomy case for the second time when he's giving hints that he will take over the government on September 16. I have been wondering is this a coincidence or is this another conspiracy??

I think only God knows what is really happening....

2. Love's Story (For all to ponder)...

Once upon a time, there was an island where all the feelings lived: Happiness, Sadness, Knowledge, and all of the others including Love. One day it was announced to the feelings that the island would sink, so all repaired their boats and left.

Love wanted to persevere until the last possible moment. When the island was almost sinking, Love decided to ask for help. Richness was passing by Love in a grand boat. Love said, "Richness, can you take me with you?" Richness answered, "No, I can't. There is a lot of gold and silver in my boat. There is no place here for you.

Love decided to ask Vanity who was also passing by in a beautiful vessel, "Vanity, please help me!" "I can't help you Love. You are all wet and might damage my boat." Vanity answered.

Sadness was close by so Love asked for help, "Sadness, let me go with you." "Oh....Love, I am so sad that I need to be by myself!"

Happiness passed by Love too, but he was so happy that she did not even hear when Love called her!

Suddenly, there was a voice, "Come Love, I will take you." It was an elder. Love felt so blessed and overjoyed that he even forgot to ask the elder his name. When they arrived at dry land, the elder went his own way.

Love realizing how much he owed the elder and asked Knowledge, another elder, "Who helped me?" "It was Time," Knowledge answered. "Time?" asked Love. "But why did Time help me?" Knowledge smiled with deep wisdom and answered, "Because, only Time is capable of understanding how great Love is."

My Jealousy Test Score

on Friday, April 18, 2008

Took the "Jealousy Test" that is posted by one of Mc.Net Member and here is the result:.... :D

My Score: 11
What does the score mean:.. here is the description ...

"Most people experience a certain amount of fear that their loved one could leave them for someone else. After all, these things happen, and when they do, it is usually very painful. You, on the other hand, appear to have a complete lack of jealous feelings. If you were honest with yourself while taking the test, this means that you are extremely secure, strong, and independent. You know that if your partner ever leaves you, you will survive with your self-esteem and dignity intact. You realize that even though you might love your partner very much, s/he is not the only fish in the sea, and that you would eventually find happiness with someone else."... haha...very good result eh?

The questions are on the relationship between two partners (husband & wife, boyfriend & girlfriend). I personally think that trust is the most important in a relationship. If you do not trust your partner, your relationship wont last for long and there's going to be a lot fighting among you and partner. And if you have children, it would be not a good thing for them to see their parents fighting and quarreling all the time. However, do not trust blindly, you must trust with your wisdom.

If somehow, the relationship seem cannot be saved and have to ended, you just have to let go and get on with your life. Of course, you will be sad and sometimes even angry, but do not let these feelings have control over you. You must try conquer them. Also, you can talk over the things with your close friends and also family...

Back to the jealousy thing, personally I think there is no point to jealous on other people. If you want to be as success as those people, you have to work on your own to achieve it. So, there is no point you keep on feeling jealous on other people yet you do not work hard...

Anyone of you happen to drop by here and want to try the test.. Here is the link:

Devour The Earth - A Great Documentary

on Tuesday, April 15, 2008

"Devour the Earth is a succinct documentary produced by the UK’s Vegetarian Society and the European Vegetarian Union and is narrated by world-renowned vegetarian and mem-ber of the Beatles Sir Paul McCartney.

The film also features a prologue by the late second president of Slovenia, Dr Janez Drnovsek. " The documentary is said to "clearly illustrate the environmental con-sequences of human activity and the effects of the meat-based diet on our beautiful, precious planet.

"The ultimate message of Devour the Earth is that meat eating has hugely adverse effects on humans, animals and other parts of Earth’s ecosystem, all for the sake of food sources for which we have no nutritional need!

Not So Lucky Day...

Last Saturday probably is "A Not So Lucky Day" for me....

First, during morning time, I was locked outside the office because I did not bring the office key and my colleagues had gone out without telling me they were going out. So, I had to wait outside the office for about 15 minutes before my colleagues came back. Well, luckily I had the newspaper, so while waiting for them to come back, I read the newspaper. Otherwise, I would have been bored to death...Haha..

Then, later in the afternoon time, I went to town to pick up my mother. My mother wanted to buy some fruits from the nearby shop. So, she gone to the shop first. I locked the car doors as they have to be locked manually and then got out from the car.. Then, suddenly I realized my car key was still inside my car and all the doors had been locked.. OMG!...Well, luckily, one of the shop owner knew someone that know to open the door...So, I called the person up, and that person came to the rescue....to unlock the door....Of course, I had to pay some $$... :(

Probably I need to get some lucky charm to prevent those unlucky events happened again..Haha....

Genius or Fool?

on Thursday, April 3, 2008

Recently the news of the Sufiah Yusof has been publsihed in all the major Malaysian newspaper. This time the news about her is not on how talented she were (she is Math Genius, and had entered the Oxford University at the age of 13 years old) and the achievement she had attained. The news is about she being a prostitute. She has offered her service through internet for 130 British Pound.

From the news I read, I have discovered that she had came from a problem family. The father has just been sent to jail because for touching the girls while tutoring them. Probably it was the family that had made her take wrong path..Or because she had decided to do this as a revenge for what her parents had done to her...we will never know.. *sigh*...

She maybe a genius in Math but she is a fool in life...*sad*...

Her story would probably send some signal to all those parents that are trying to push their children to achieve the full "A" result on the report card..

Why.....

on Monday, March 31, 2008

Last Saturday, I have came across a news in a newspaper that made me wondering why some people are so "cold blooded".

The case happened in Penang. A girl (around 10 years old) had fallen off from the 13th floor of the building where she lived (the reason why she fallen off is still unknown). The little girl's mother had cried for help from the people around her to help her to send her daughter to the hospital, but seems that no one was willing to help. When the ambulance finally came and rushed the girl to the hospital, the life of that little girl could not be saved. The hospital doctor mentioned that if the little girl could be sent to the hospital half an hour earlier, she could probably be still alive....

A life had gone because people were not willing to offer their help...they would rather to stand there and watch the whole incident...What if all this happen to all their own family and friends?? How would they feel?...

*sigh* What is really happening to the "heart" of people nowadays??

KLCI Up and Down

on Thursday, March 13, 2008

The Malaysian stock exchange has been up and down this few days. After the announcement of the result of 12th general election, the KLCI dropped by the more than 100 points on Monday. This will be best time to grab some good stocks but due to lack of "Vitamin M", I cannot do anything..*sigh*.

The market bounced back during Tuesday and Wednesday. Today, the KLCI again dropped more than 30 points because affected by the US market.

*Sigh*.... Will the market bounce back or drop somemore tomorrow?? I have no idea. The market is really unpredicatable just like the result of the 12th general election.. :P

Waking up to new politics

on Tuesday, March 11, 2008

This is an article from The Star.....

ANALYSIS BY WONG CHUN WAI

LET’S get used to some things. The likelihood is that the DAP secretary-general will soon be known as Yang Amat Berhormat Lim Guan Eng and in Selangor, possibly his Parti Keadilan Rakyat counterpart will be known as Yang Amat Berhormat Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.

In Selangor, Perak and Kedah, the former state government heads – Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Khir Toyo, Datuk Seri Tajol Rosli Ghazali and Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid – will be opposition leaders in the state legislative assemblies.

That needs a lot of getting used to for the political establishment but it is the result of the political tsunami that hit Malaysia on Saturday. (A tsunami without earthquake signal)

And 24 hours later, as Malaysians still recover from the shock, the players are still trying to make sense of the results.

Still coming to terms with the worst electoral results for the Barisan Nasional, the top leaders huddled at the 39th floor of the Putra World Trade Centre in the early hours yesterday and appeared briefly for a press conference.

There was really not much to talk about for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and his deputy, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

In a rather ironic situation, the media asked Pak Lah to pose for photographs by raising Najib’s hand when Barisan achieved a simple majority to form the federal government. But there was nothing to celebrate. (No celebration for the BN but is sure a celebration for the opposition parties)

It was a close call and, until the winds of change stopped blowing, no one dared to even predict the final outcome.

Yesterday, there was unusual silence on the political front. The opposition victors wisely stayed away from any celebrations, so as not to create unnecessary misunderstanding.

Clearly, even the opposition politicians could not believe that they had landed the two jewels of Malaysia – Penang and Selangor – while winning Perak and Kedah and retaining Kelantan.

Winning elections is one thing but now comes the more difficult part – running a government, with the Barisan still holding on to the federal government.

There is the complexity of the government structure, from the state secretariat to state-owned agencies and government-linked companies to the many city and district councils.

Many of these people involved in the machineries are Barisan personalities, or more precisely, Umno members.

No doubt, it would be a challenge to make the new state governments function smoothly.

That’s not all. The business community, long used to dealing with the mentris besar or chief ministers, would have to start all over again. The judgment will be at the Bursa Malaysia. (The Bursa showed the respond yesterday by dropping more than 100 points due to non-confidence of foreign investors and also the economic slowdown pressure of US. Luckily, it goes up today)

With Penang and Selangor as the most industrialised states, the economic implications will be enormous, especially with the Trade and Industry Ministry is still under the Barisan federal government.

There are more implications in the tsunami’s aftermath. Clearly, all eyes will now be on Abdullah and his next step.

The Barisan now has to take a serious review of itself. The Old Politics is over, that is a fact. (Yeap..the Old Politics is over and now would be the time to do some renewal)

The Opposition, especially PKR, has managed to offer a more multi-racial outlook, with younger candidates. As a product, it worked, and its appeal seemed to reach across to all races.

Even with Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim openly saying that he would do away with affirmative action for bumiputras, the party continued to get the Malay votes. Issues on economic opportunities and education have always been sore points with non-bumiputras and it needs to be addressed. (These two issues had long been existed. Just the BN party leaders did not pay much attention to them)

A new Barisan Nasional, possibly even a one-party multi-racial organisation, is an option for the leadership to consider.

Old parties, all over the world, have always faced such identity problems, and Umno, the MCA and the MIC will be no exceptions.

In the years to come, convincing younger voters to support a party purely on communal grounds will become tougher, even as Barisan has advocated multi-racialism as a coalition.

In the age of Barack Obama, who is only 47, the Barisan component parties need fresh faces to appeal to the young voters of the coming years.

Barisan needs to reinvent, rebrand and re-examine itself to stay relevant. It has to be bold enough to admit its mistakes if it wishes to be accepted by the people.

The next round will be even tougher for Barisan.

The opposition parties, with Penang and Selangor under their control, will have stronger financial muscles for the next fight.

A two-party system seems likely to evolve from the outcome of this general election. The first page of the new Malaysian political era opens today. Certainly, the elections may have ended but the drama has only just started. Stay tuned.

Waking up to new politics

It's Finally Over

on Monday, March 10, 2008

The 12th Malaysia General election is over. The opposition parties have denied the 2/3 majority of BN in the parliamen. They even won five states in West Malaysia from BN. Well done and congratulations to the opposition parties. Hope they can perform their jobs well and do the best for the people in their states.

For BN leaders, I think now it is the time for them to think what they have done wrong and what the people in this country really need.

For the Sarawak BN, although they had only lost one seat which is the Kuching Parliamentary seat, they should not have satisfied and happy with the result. The opposing voice of the people is rising. If they do not exam and correct themselves, they may as well lost Sarawak to the opposing parties in the next State election.

8th March 2008

on Saturday, March 8, 2008

8th March 2008 is an important day for all Malaysian citizens. A day for Malaysians to decide who will be ruling this country for the next five years.

This is the third time I am voting but it is the first time I am voting for the Miri Parliamentary seat. The previous two voting were for the Sarawak State elections. And so, I have crossed my choice this morning...

Well, no matter who you choose, just don't make your vote into a spoilt vote.

The results of the election will be released out starting from 7pm tonight. So, stay tune at the local TV and radio stations if you are anxious to know the results.

Something To Be Pondered By Our To Be MPs

on Friday, March 7, 2008

According to a news article in Sin Chew, a professor from UiTM has mentioned that for 50 years, the quality of our Parliament did not improve because of the quality of its members. He has also mentioned that the debate in our Parliament is just like political show, a show for the parties' leaders and also the public. Probably this should be something to be pondered by our To Be MPs and also public....

Education and Politic

on Wednesday, March 5, 2008

Does education really need to be linked with politic? During this election campaign, certain businessman has promised to build college if the ruling party wins the election at that area. Well, what if the party fails to win that constituency? Then, no college will be built. Isn't education should be provided no matter who win?Well, if the businessman is really keen on developing education in that area, he should have built the college no matter who is going to be the next MP. And if the government is truly a people caring government, it should provide all these basic necessities no matter which party the next MP is coming from. No win, no development is more a threat than a reminder.

Unfair Media Coverage

Since the day one starting of election campaign, there is a lot of media coverage on it. However, you can find most of the stories are on BN and seldom on the opposition. The BN even have advertised in the newspaper everyday..Wonder how much they spend on it? Mind you, they are colored advertisement. The following is an email receive from a friend on a complain by a reader on The Star.....

Well, this does not happen only to The Star but almost every local media except a few. These media actually should play a neutral role in the election campaign. They should have covered stories on both the BN and opposition just like what the US media are doing during their presidential campaign. Sadly, this is not what happening here....
