Whose Word To Believe?

on Tuesday, July 17, 2007

After the Health Minister has advised the public not to reuse the food and liquid plastic containers last week, the Malaysian Plastics Forum has insisted that these plastics are safe for reuse. Its president said that the ingredients that are used for making these plastic containers are in compliance with the US FDA (Food and Drug Administration) International Standards. However when asked how often these products were sent by the manufacturers to the FDA for testing, the president that he does not know about this and says that these manufacturers were large multinational corporations and would adhere to the standards.
Do this large multinational corporations really adhere to the FDA standards? Nobody know. In my opinion, the Malaysian Plastics Forum (MPF) should monitor these multinational corporations manufacturers to ensure them do comply with the standards, and not just assume that they would comply.
I am in doubt on whose word to believe at this moment..Do I have to believe the Health Minister advice or the statement made by the MDF? Probably I should conduct a research of my own in order to prove their statements.... :P
